02/27/11 Diaper Cake

Here is the diaper cake that I made today for the St. Baldrick's raffle - it has burp clothes, onesies, wash clothes, Burt's Bees bath set, 2 bottles, 2 binkies, 2 rattles, a baby chime, blanket and stuffed giraffe.  Oh yeah and 50 size 1 diapers!  It is all gender neutral.  I hope people want to bid on it!

Indy kept after Buck this morning wanting to play.  I think he got more than he bargained for!

02/25/11 Wet Snow

What do they mean when they say a wet, heavy snow?  They mean today's snow!  It is cold enough that it snows, but warm enough that the snow turns to water when it lands.  This is the little sapling that we planted in 2009.  I love that you can see the little droplets on it.  I hate that there was more snow to take a picture of though!

02/24/11 Reese's Pieces Bark

There is a bake sale at the YMCA tomorrow so my contribution is Reese's Pieces Bark.  It is a new creation of mine and I hope people like it.

Hopefully Mother Nature has it right.  My tulip bulbs have started to sprout!

02/22/11 Out of Control Aloe Vera

This a photo of our out of control  Aloe Vera plant.  I had Indy get in the photo so you can see how big it is.  We have actually cut this plant down two other times and I think we will have to cut it down again soon.

Such a beautiful day at Mt. Hope! 56 degrees out - the footing was terrible though - very mucky and wet. but man so nice to see colors other than white and grey again!

02/16/11 Hello there!

So this brave grey squirrel came right up on my porch today and then right up the pole to the bird feeder.  Lucky for him the dogs were napping otherwise it would not have been pretty. I can't believe how close he was!

02/15/11 Cuddle Bug

Jim loves to pick up the dogs, but Buck is not a big fan of being picked up.  Indy on the other hand loves to just sit with Jim.  Today he sat with Jim while Jim surfed the web.  He sure does love his daddy!

02/14/11 Happy Valentine's Day

Jim got me a Keurig for Valentine's Day!  Way better than flowers!  he also got me K-Cups in White Hot Chocolate, Hot Chocolate, and Sweet Iced Tea.  His gift from me is late (of course) so he got the back up gift ( lottery scratch off tickets fingers crossed that we win!)

02/13/11 The Money Train

This Oneida Silver Piggy Bank was given to Rhys at his baptism by John and Claire Ryan.  Every time Rhys looses a tooth we make him put his tooth fairy money in his piggy bank.  It has quite a few quarters and silver dollars in it now.

02/12/11 Why I hate winter...

This morning there was sunshine - now this!  I took this picture from my garage doorway.  Please note how you can barely see the stop sign and Rhys' pine tree that are both located in our yard.  Now I get to drive to work in this - yay me!

02/11/11 Mine...no Mine..Mine

We have dozens of toys for the dogs, but they always want the one that the other one has.  Just like kids I guess and apparently it doesn't lessen with age.  The spent 15 minutes fighting over this old Wiggly Giggly toy this morning.  The funny part is that the toy is so old that it hasn't worked since the old house - more than 5 years ago! So it just goes to prove a toy is very desirable if your sibling wants it too.

02/10/11 Favorite Lunch

My new favorite lunch - homemade salad ala Barb:
Fresh avocado, black olives, julienne carrots, sliced cucumber, sliced tomato, diced grilled chicken, croutons and grated parmesan cheese - yummo and filling -and best of all NO LETTUCE!

02/06/11 White Dog in the White Woods

We had some crazy weather last night - freezing rain and then big, fat snow flakes.  It made for a beautiful walk at Mt. Hope today.  I told Jim he could pick the picture of the day today and this is the one he picked. It is hard to pick Buck out in all the white.  Such a nice walk today and both dogs are still worn out.  They were still looking for the deer from the other day - very cute how they remembered were it happened.

02/04/11 Dumb Luck

So even the best photographer needs some dumb luck sometimes.  Today there is a series of photos for the photo of the day because today's dumb luck necessitates it.  Here is the story:  I love to go to Mt. Hope as it is a photographers dream.   The first photo you see was going to be my photo of the day - my two boys looking so cute - but then a deer crashed through.  I was so amazed that I missed the first deer.  Major bummer!  But then a  second deer came through and I got it!  Then a third but I missed that one too. They are very quick to begin with and I know the dogs spooked them even more.  Indy took after the deer, but came back pretty quick.  He spent the rest of the walk pretty close to me, but always looking for more deer.  The snow was so deep that if they veered off the trail they had to literally bound over the snow as evident by the last photo of Indy.

02/03/11 Favorite Toy

This is one of Rhys' favorite toys right now.  It was a gift from the Nichols' family - I guess they know him pretty well!  Of course what little boy wouldn't love a dragon that roars and walks!  The dogs are not so fond of it as it freaks them out when it walks - haha!

020211 The Big Dig!

Here is Jim snow-blowing out the driveway.  The snow was crazy heavy this morning because around 5 am it switched to freezing rain.  That means the accumulation totals were down and you could not lift this stuff!  So glad we had the snow blower today!
